Forestry, agriculture and forest protection in two projects north and south-west of Brazzaville.

asc impact is a German impact fund investing in sustainable forestry, agriculture and carbon projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In the Republic of the Congo we develop two projects through our local companies AFOREST CONGO (Gamboma and Abala districts, Nkéni-Alima Department) and AGRICAF CONGO (Kingoué district, Bouenza Department). Both are located mainly on savanna that has been shaped by regular fires. Both are developed under Congolese law, in dialogue with national and local authorities and with the communities living around them, and in line with the IFC Performance Standards.

How we work
with the communities

Ongoing consultation

Consultation is a continuous process at both projects. Since 2024 at Massangui and 2025 at Gamboma we have met the communities, customary landowners and authorities around the concessions: in village meetings and group discussions, in separate groups for women, through household surveys, and at public meetings held by the administration.

Consultations

Benefits for the communities

At Gamboma, the commitments to the communities were set out with the authorities and village representatives in a Cahier des Charges. Delivery has started with the roads: by August 2026 a first road axis of about 23 km had been completed.

Benefits

Dialogue and grievances

People who live in the project areas or are otherwise affected by our work can raise a concern in person with the project team in the villages or through the form on this website.

Gamboma (AFOREST CONGO)

A landscape project on savanna combining forestry, agriculture and native forest, on a 30-year lease. The concession is the legal perimeter; the areas to be planted are smaller and are defined step by step, after environmental and social studies.

Gamboma

Massangui (AGRICAF CONGO)

A tree planting project on savanna that protects the forest along the rivers. A trial plot has been growing at Zabata since 2025.
